Pat Metheny is an American guitarist, composer, bandleader, and one of the great masters of modern jazz. He was born in Lee Sammit, Missouri on August 12, 1954. His father was a trumpet player, and he grew up surrounded by music from an early age.

Pat Metheny began his professional career as a teenager, joining the Gary Burton Quintet in 1974. Through this band, he had the opportunity to play alongside some of the world’s most famous jazz musicians.

In 1978, Pat Metheny formed the self-titled band “Pat Metheny Group” with pianist Lyle Mays. The band gained popularity for its musical style that incorporated elements of various genres, including jazz, rock, funk, and Brazilian music, and released numerous albums.
