Keith Jarrett is a jazz pianist, composer and bandleader born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA in 1945. He is influenced by many musical genres, including rhythm and blues, blues, gospel and classical music.

He performed with many important jazz musicians in the late 1960s and 1970s, including Miles Davis, Charles Lloyd and Gary Burton, and also gained worldwide acclaim in the 1970s with his own Keith Jarrett Standards Trio.

He is also famous for his solo piano playing and improvisations. He is known for his unique style of improvising and interpreting standard numbers and original songs. In particular, the “Cologne Concert” is known as one of his masterpieces.

He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including eight Grammy Awards, a Gold Disc, Down Beat Magazine Readers’ Poll for Pianist of the Year, and many more.

He announced his retirement from performing due to chronic fatigue syndrome, but made a comeback after a fierce battle with the illness. His career has left an indelible mark on the history of jazz and improvisation.
