石若 駿（いしわか しゅん）は、1992年8月16日、北海道清里町生まれの日本を代表するジャズ・ドラマーです。
幼少期からクラシック音楽に親しみ、13歳でクラシックパーカッションを始めました。2002年から2006年まで札幌ジュニアジャズスクールに在籍し、本格的にドラム演奏を開始。その間、ハービー・ハンコックや日野皓正、タイガー大越と出会い、多大な影響を受けました。高校進学時に上京し、東京藝術大学音楽学部附属音楽高等学校の打楽器専攻に入学。在学中にはバークリー音楽院からバークリーアワードを受賞し、奨学生として留学も経験しました。その後、東京藝術大学音楽学部器楽科打楽器専攻を卒業し、卒業時にはアカンサス音楽賞と同声会賞を受賞しています。また、くるりやmillennium parade、KID FRESINO、君島大空、椎名林檎など、ジャンルを超えた多くのアーティストのライブやレコーディングに参加し、その卓越した技術と柔軟な音楽性で高い評価を得ています。
石若駿は、ジャズを基盤としながらも、クラシック、ロック、ポップスなど多岐にわたるジャンルで活躍し、日本の音楽シーンに新たな風を吹き込む存在として注目されています。
Shun Ishiwaka is one of Japan’s leading jazz drummers, born on August 16, 1992 in Kiyosato, Hokkaido.
He was familiar with classical music from an early age and started classical percussion at the age of 13. He enrolled in the Sapporo Junior Jazz School from 2002 to 2006 and began playing drums in earnest. During that time, he met Herbie Hancock, Terumasa Hino, and Tiger Ogoe, who greatly influenced him. He moved to Tokyo to attend high school and enrolled in the Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music High School, majoring in percussion instruments. While enrolled, he received the Berklee Award from Berklee College of Music and studied abroad as a scholarship student. He then graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, majoring in percussion instruments, and received the Acanthus Music Award and the Doseikai Award at the time of graduation. He has also participated in live performances and recordings of many artists across genres, including Quruli, millennium parade, KID FRESINO, Kimijima Sora, and Shiina Ringo, and has been highly praised for his outstanding technique and flexible musicality.
While his background is in jazz, Ishiwaka Shun is active in a wide range of genres including classical, rock and pop, and is attracting attention as someone who is breathing new life into the Japanese music scene.
