ジャズ喫茶ベイシー（BASIE） は、岩手県一関市にある日本を代表するジャズ喫茶のひとつで、1970年にオープンしました。店主の菅原正二（すがわら しょうじ）氏が経営し、その圧倒的なオーディオシステムと音へのこだわりで、国内外のジャズファンやオーディオマニアから絶大な支持を受けています。
ベイシーの最大の特徴は 「音」 への徹底したこだわりです。JBLの大型スピーカー（パラゴン、ハーツフィールド）、マッキントッシュ（McIntosh）のアンプ、GARRARD（ガラード）製ターンテーブル、アナログレコード中心（CDよりもLPを重視）。
音の迫力や臨場感が桁違いで、まるでライブ会場にいるかのような感覚になると評判です。特にカウント・ベイシーのアルバムをかけると、店内がまるでスイングの熱気に包まれると言われています。ベイシーはただの喫茶店ではなく、「音楽の聖地」 です。ジャズが好きなら、一度は訪れたい場所ですね！
Jazz Cafe BASIE is one of Japan’s leading jazz cafes, located in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, and opened in 1970. Run by owner Shoji Sugawara, the cafe has received overwhelming support from jazz fans and audiophiles both in Japan and overseas for its impressive audio system and commitment to sound.
Basie’s greatest characteristic is his thorough attention to sound. He used large JBL speakers (Paragon, Hartsfield), McIntosh amplifiers, Garrard turntables, and focused on analog records (preferring LPs over CDs).
The power and realism of the sound is out of this world, and it is said that it makes you feel as if you are at a live concert. In particular, when they play Count Basie albums, it is said that the inside of the cafe is filled with the excitement of swing music. Basie is not just a coffee shop, it is a “holy land of music.” If you like jazz, it is a place you want to visit at least once!
