The Jazz Crusaders were an American jazz band active mainly in the 1960s and 1970s. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the Jazz Crusaders switched from jazz to jazz fusion and changed their name to “The Crusaders.” During this transition, they created music that combined various musical elements, including funk, soul, Latin, and rock.
“Festival Album” is a 1966 album by the Jazz Crusaders, an omnibus album featuring performances at the Pacific Jazz Festival and the Newport Jazz Festival.
The core members of the band, including Wilton Felder (saxophone), Joe Sample (keyboards), Wayne Henderson (trombone), and Stix Hooper (drums), were part of the band for many years and brought their own unique style to the Crusaders’ music.
