Shutaro Matsui is a jazz trumpeter born in Kunitachi, Tokyo in 1999. He has been familiar with music since he was a child and started playing the trumpet at the age of 9. He majored in classical music at the Kunitachi College of Music High School, and switched to jazz after entering university. He graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music Jazz Department at the top of his class.
Matsui has received instruction from Eric Miyashiro and Makoto Ozone, and has gained experience through various jazz events and activities in orchestras. In 2022, he released his debut single “Neapolitan Dance”, and in 2023, he released his first full album “STEPS OF THE BLUE”. Matsui’s music is strongly influenced by classical music, and his playing style is known for its rich expressiveness and unique tone. He is expected to continue to be active both in Japan and abroad.
